What is Ashtanga Yoga?
Ashtanga Yoga is a dynamic practice that synchronizes breath, movement, and inner focus. The postures are linked in a sequence that, when repeated with sustained attention, becomes a path to purifying the body, clarifying the mind, and exploring consciousness.
This method was born from the teachings of Krishnamacharya and was developed by his student Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India, a legacy that was continued by his grandson Sharath Jois.
The practice is traditionally taught in the "Mysore" format, where each student progresses at their own pace with personalized guidance. This approach allows the practice to be tailored to each individual's body, process, and stage of life.
“Abhyasa vairagyabhyam tannirodhah” — it is through constant practice and detachment that the mind is transformed, says Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras.
Beyond the physical, Ashtanga is a tool for self-knowledge: it cultivates internal listening and invites us to let go of patterns, narratives, and rigid ways of inhabiting the body and life.
My way of teaching it
My approach to teaching Ashtanga Yoga stems from the conviction that each student must be given the tools to forge their own path. My role is to be a channel for that knowledge to flow, always remaining an eternal student with a genuine desire to become a better human being.
For me, yoga is a profound opportunity to connect with oneself, with the present, and with who we want to be. Therefore, through this practice, I invite you to explore these questions so that, from this understanding, a real and authentic transformation can emerge. Thus, each class becomes a space for personal exploration and development.
This practice is for people who:
- Wish to move forward at their own pace with personalized support.
- Want to explore their body and emotions through an integrative lens.
- Are seeking self-awareness and personal transformation.
- Value an authentic and respectful approach.
On-site sessions
I lead the Mysore Ashtanga Yoga program in Palma de Mallorca, at Casa Mitra. Classes are held Monday through Friday mornings and two Saturdays a month. The class is group-based, with individual and progressive support. All levels are welcome during the week; Saturdays are for experienced practitioners.
Online sessions
I offer Mysore-style classes three times a week and one guided class per month. The format is group-based, with personalized attention, and is aimed at those who wish to develop an independent practice, integrating the method into their daily lives, regardless of their location.
Mentoring
A one-on-one space to support personal, physical, and educational processes related to the practice. Through dialogue and listening, we explore tools that expand yoga beyond asana. Aimed at practitioners who wish to deepen their knowledge, as well as those who already teach or are just starting out.
